The Katana is a lightweight, hyper-responsive, game changer of a binding. Built on the surfy and playful AsymWrap platform and the locked-in hold of the all-new UltraFlex Pro ankle straps, powered by AuxTech®, the Katana is pure all-mountain performance. A team rider and in-house favorite, the Katana is cult classic thanks to the next level adjustability of PivotMount Max and its freakishly lightweight design.
Utilising Rome’s slickest tech features to create a model that has revolutionised binding performance, the Katana is equally comfortable in the park, powder, or on the piste.
The Katana uses Rome’s Asymwrap chassis, which provides more of a surfboard feel while retaining the slick response and control you want from an all-mountain binding. There’s also the Asym FlexChannel high back, made from powerful glass-filled nylon with a single diagonal flex slot. The result is a heelside response that has support right where you need it, with plenty of flex on the inside top corners for enhanced tweaking. You can also rotate and alter the high back canting to suit your riding style. In addition, the adjustable baseplate has been created to fit the widest range of boot sizes possible.
The brand new UltraFlex Pro ankle strap is powered by Rome’s exclusive Auxtech, making them highly expandable and durable for an amazing level of hold. Auxtech is also the basis for the Progrip toe strap which stretches over any boot size or shape. Rome’s Pivotmount Max strap mounting system allows you to position the UltraFlex Pro Ankle Strap in different positions to find the perfect fit. The higher the strap sits, the more power and response you can get from the bindings. Riding with it lower on the ankle offers more flex for a more surfy feel. The Katana also features Rome’s DuraCush SubBase Pad, which helps reduce chatter in icy conditions and absorb impacts when landing jumps.
